I am John Brown and I have been trading in the property market in the Prestbury area of east Cheshire since 1974. So, I admit I´m a bit of a wrinkley compared to the trendy young things mirrored in the media by Location Location Location, The Property Ladder and similar up-to-the-minute hotshot property programmes.
But being around for a bit means that I have also gained more than just a bit of an insight into the market over that time.

I used to run an Estate Agency from an office in Prestbury village, and like all the lemmings in the late 1980´s, I sold my business to an insurance company. I went from being a high quality one man band to being part of a low quality volume business. We didn´t gel, as they say, so I re-acquired my firm in 1992, sold it again the same afternoon and went home with a single management client and an ambition to go fishing.

I don´t fish much these days. I now have another high quality business, this time in PROPERTY RENTALS AND MANAGEMENT, and I look after a small but perfectly formed portfolio of about 50 nice houses.

My rental credo:
- I only register homes that I could live in myself.
- I only work for landlords I can get on with.
- Except in special circumstances, I do not let to: singles/groups/smokers/pet owners/or people with dreadful habits!
- I treat all my houses as if they belong to me.
- I aim to return homes to landlords in better condition than that when originally registered.
- I take big deposits
- My tenants are vetted by Homelet
- I provide free Rent Guarantee insurance.
- I care about my good reputation.

I also provide KEYMAN RELOCATION SERVICES to persons who need help and assistance as they move into the area. I can source rental or purchase opportunities and I negotiate all the arrangements necessary for either a tenancy or a purchase.

Recently I have re-entered the ESTATE AGENCY sector and have begun to act as the bespoke selling agent for discerning vendors who want a wholly committed approach to sales. I have no ambition to become a " High St" agent again, but I have found that I can present property and represent vendors in a very focused form. I charge less too!
